Christmas is Over and The New Year Is Here

Wow, it is hard to believe that the New Year is here, and that we have to start discounting stuff that we couldn't sell for the Christmas rush! I figure we should just about sell everything that did not sell for Christmas. January should be discount month. We have lots of merchandise that should sell in the next month.

We have brought in a lot of Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise, which I have been putting up over the last week or so. It is so hard to list merchandise during the Christmas/New Years period because of the constant distractions - Dinners, friends dropping by, going out to visit friends, etc. I also had the misfortune of stepping on some glass and getting four stitches in the bottom of my foot.

I think that business in 2010 is going to be busier. Everybody is talking about the economy being better, and that is a good sign. The Dow is back well over 10,000. The stock exchange is generally a good indicator of how well the economy is doing. The general business state of mind is more positive, which will help to stimulate the economy. So 2010 is going to be a busy year. It looks exciting. I am really positive about 2010!

We are clearing out a lot of merchandise at Fun Cool Collectibles We see 2010 as being a turning point in our business! So, visit us during our New Years Sales, and buy some great merchandise.

Reflecting on the past year

This past year is almost a blur to me. Alot has happened, many things have not happened and some things have just stayed the same. I have decided as I now have more flexiblity with my work schedule, that I will be focusing on writing online. I always enjoy writing and my Mom always told us girls we inherited the flair of writing from my Dad. He used to spend many countless hours writing stories until the wee hours of the morning.

Anyways, Richard has been writing over at Associated Content and has a sports blog "Sportshound" at Today.com. He has written some good articles and after reading his, the ideas have flooded my mind and I have been bitten by the writing bug once again!

I am also considering writing reviews, especially on Nintendo's Wii games, as it has become a BIG family deal in our home. I'd like to share the best and worst games as we found them.

And last but not least, our Fun Cool Collectibles store is going as stong as ever. We are planning to add more variety and to hold monthly sales events. The economy is hitting us ALL where it hurts and we would like to offer some very good deals to help out!

Getting back to Business

I am feeling quite proud of myself today. I managed to remember to Twitter. I updated two of my Squidoo lenses and created a new lens "Growing Up With Autism" which was very personal to me. It talks about my son, Jonathan, who has autism. I think it came out good, real good. I hope other enjoy reading it too!

Sales this past week have been fantastic! I cannot believe how many we've had. July has always been the slowest month in past years but this year may break that trend. I don't know why but I think the ability to access the internet while on vacation in hotels , hot spots and mobile phones plays a big part. No longer are people away from the net while on vacation. Which is great for our online business!

Tomorrow I will work on blogging and my websites.

Happy Memorial Day

Wow has the past month flew by! It's been very busy here. My oldest turns 17 years old next week. He attended his first prom..his junior prom and had a fun time. My daughter has been busy training for the 30th Annual Freihofer's Run for Woman in Albany next Saturday. This will be her 3rd time running the 5K, not bad for a 14 year old. She really enjoys it and it gives her such a sense of accomplishment. And my youngest son, has been practicing for his piano recital in June. He has really done well with his piano lessons. Sometimes, because of his autism, he has a hard time learning the notes. He finds it easier to play by ear and memorize the music. But I am really impressed by how far he has come. He also has a very wonderful piano teacher who knows just how to get the best out of him during his lessons.

How proud I am of my kids! Looking forward to a nice Memorial Day weekend, warm weather and hot dogs and hamburgers off the grill! Hope yours is as fun!

Oh and Fun Cool Collectibles is running a Memorial Day Sale too!
